Finishing Spree

I am a member of the Team Knitting Dead, Ravelry group and have been participating in their annual cage match. I didn’t finish the vest that I cast on for the event but I did finish my Rose Tyler mitts, darned a pair of socks, ripped back toes from a pair of socks that had holes in them and reknit the entire toe. I also finally finished knitting my Blackrose socks that I cast on during one of my first dates with my husband. Hopefully this week I also finish my husband’s Sweetheart Socks. If I finish those before casting on any more socks or gloves, this will be the first time in years that I will only have one pair of something’s on the needle!

You get what you pay for…

I feel that it takes a crazy amount of effort to be modest where we live. I want my son to grow up respecting women and understand that it is great to express yourself but to try and do that without looking like a slob or being half naked. I have started wearing more dresses but it is almost impossible to find skirts that hit below the knee which leaves one at risk for wardrobe malfunctions if they were to bend incorrectly, the wind blows, etc. So my solution to that is to wear tights. Eventually when I get a free hour (mothers of toddlers, feel free to laugh) I will whip out a couple of vintage skirts on my sewing machine and be set. But then we have the other issue, cheap ass tights that develop holes by looking at them. I guess I am going to attempt to knit tights for the fall to combat this problem. Hashtagknittersproblems.

TdF is here!

The Tour de Fleece is here. Woohoo! I have three raw alpaca fleeces, hand careers from my birthday, a spinning wheel, a drop spindle and I have spun maybe 6yds. I am working now and husband and baby and house all need attention so my crafting is suffering, my sanity along with it. I am also working on a charity thing that involves me shaving my head in two weeks. Will post about that later. Almost had my spinning wheel sussed when the mother cord, or whatever it is called, broke. Ugh. Maybe tonight after son sleeps I will make some progress. Hopefully…

Bugsy the Knitter cooks dinner

Cooked crock pot chicken tonight. A whole fryer in the crock pot with Newmans Own Lemon Garlic marinade and some turmeric and pepper. I threw together some short crust pastry that Xander helped me roll out. I used silicone muffin thingy’s. Added in some chicken, mushrooms, carrots, beef broth and cream. Put some crust on top and baked them at 450. They were so good Xander wouldn’t even touch his macaroni and cheese bunnies!

Oopsy

So…sewing mishap, toddler went down for a nap and out cane the dewing machine. Got all the way to inserting the zipper, sadly the fabric doesn’t have a lot of give and I will not be able to wear these shorts until I drop a couple of pounds. Oh well, will hopefully finish them during tomorrows nap. 🙂

Lovesock KAL Progress

It seems as if I am going to beat second sock syndrome. This weekend I cast off my first sock and cast on the second one the next day; I am already at the heel flap of the second sock! I may have these done only two months past my husbands birthday (which they were supposed to be a gift for).
